Digital Forensics

What is meant by digital forensics?

Digital Forensics

Digital forensics includes the investigation of suspicious incidents related to computer systems and the identification of the facts and perpetrators by collecting, analyzing, and evaluating digital traces. In doing so, we apply established procedures for identifying, preserving, authenticating, restoring, and analysing electronically stored information.
Our goal is to use these techniques to conduct a structured forensic investigation while maintaining the chain of custody (eDiscovery).

Examples of Digital Forensics services:

  • Collection, Processing, Review, and Protection of Data (eDiscovery)
  • Recovery of deleted data, fragmented documents, IM chats and webmails
  • Email communication analysis
  • Analysis of the Internet/User History
  • Deletion and Wiping Analysis
  • Password cracking

Data Collection

Inventory & Safe Storage
Data collection, analysis, and storage of devices such as hard drives, servers, laptops, smartphones, or tablets. Secure storage ensures that the backed up data is protected against tampering.

Data Processing

Quality Assessment & Analytics
Data processing includes the processing, validation, and analysis of the files and metadata obtained. This ensures that the data is correct and complete (quality assurance). Document review and supports the optimization of analyses

Data Review

Production & Reporting
Scanning of relevant files via BDO's secure platform. This allows for a thorough investigation and evaluation of data. Optional reports include information about search terms and statistics, providing insights to improve data analysis.

Data Protection

Certified Erasure & Secure Archiving
Preservation of the data security of the received devices and hard drives through protected archiving or certified deletion (deletion algorithm applicable to SSDs)
